Stock management for grocery stores and food retail

Hundreds of lines, short dates, turnover rates that differ wildly from one aisle to the next. Accurate stock is a full-time job — or a piece of software.

What gets in the way in food retail

  • Short dates outrun you

Fresh and ultra-fresh expire while you are dealing with something else. Without batch tracking and alerts, shrinkage is discovered by walking past the shelf.

  • Hundreds of lines, uneven turnover

A few products move daily, most sit still. Applying the same reorder threshold across the whole catalogue produces both stockouts and overstock.

  • The POS stock and yours drift apart

Sales go through the till, deliveries through the back, breakages nowhere. After a few weeks the two figures no longer speak to each other.

What StockZone changes

  • Expiry flagged before the loss

Tracking by batch and date, consuming what expires soonest first, alerts ahead of time. Shrinkage becomes an exception rather than a routine.

  • Reordering per product, not one blanket threshold

Each line has its own calculation, based on actual consumption and its supplier’s lead time. Fast movers are watched closely, slow movers do not sit in overstock.

  • One stock, current at all times

Every transaction decrements stock in real time, deliveries and shelf stocking are tracked. The backstore figure and the till figure become the same number again.

Frequently asked questions in food retail

Can expiry dates be tracked per batch?

Yes. Two deliveries of the same item do not carry the same urgency: batch tracking lets you issue what expires soonest and be alerted before the date.

How do I handle hundreds of lines?

CSV import to set things up, then rolling counts: you count your high-value families often and the rest rarely, instead of halting everything for a full stocktake.

Do I need to change my POS?

No. StockZone connects to compatible systems and works standalone otherwise — you lose the automatic sales feed, nothing else.
